The Bare Bones EPROM Programmer Kit


Programs 2716, 2764, 27128, 27256 EPROM types.

Hardware requirements:
  MS-DOS computer with COM1 or COM2 serial port
  floppy disk drive (specify 3-1/2" or 5-1/4")
  power (5.5-6 Vdc plus 13-26 Vdc programming voltage)
  serial cable

Experience level needed for assembling kit:
  You should be able to solder or wire-wrap and to read a 
  simple schematic.

The Bare Bones EPROM Programmer is a simple, menu driven system 
for programming small EPROMs.  It consists of a programmer board 
and software that runs on an MS-DOS type computer.  You must 
supply the proper voltages and, for heavy use, you will want to 
plug a zero-insertion-force socket into the machined-pin socket. 
The programmer board connects through a serial cable to COM1 or 
COM2 of an MS-DOS computer.  A menu system allows you to read, 
erase, verify, examine, and program EPROMs, load from, and to 
save to, MS-DOS files and convert to and from various formats 
(Intel Hex, and Motorola S1-S9).  It includes an on-line help 
system.

At a minimum you need the Plans and software.  You can also buy 
the printed circuit board, or you can assemble the programmer by 
wire-wrapping or point-to-point soldering or even by using a 
plastic breadboard or its matching printed circuit board 
(available from Radio Shack).

At these prices, if you are a hobbyist or engineer without an 
EPROM programmer of your very own, there is no longer any need 
for you to deprive yourself!
